Fun Week

Here's a chopstick dispenser, like our straw ones. I just thought it was cool haa.

So super fun week! The one sentence stories were a lot of fun, and my students did a great job. We were laughing all week :) Here is another story from a class I thought was funny.

My favorite line? "She is too fat to see, but she is so 'wite' (white), I received it. Finally, we married." The boy who read this story in class had everyone practically falling out of their seats haa.
I have a large stack of these and I am keeping them to read whenever I need a humorous pick-up. :)

So this weekend I went with some of the American teachers and some Chinese teachers bowling. It was a good time. There was a group of men next to us from Ethiopia with some Chinese colleagues here for business, and they invited all of us to go hang out with them at a Chinese club. A Chinese club is not like an American clubs at all. Everybody sits at tables while the music blares and just eats and eats and eats plus some drinks here and there. There is a stage for general dancing and professional singers and dancers come out every now and then to perform.

Now the Ethiopians took a a real liking to all of us. One proposed to me, which I sadly declined. I know. I'm sure I am really missing out, it's probably the biggest mistake of my life, but I'll just have to deal with the consequences.

Another teacher, Breckon, took some great pictures, so I thought I'd share.
When we were bowling, we asked them if they spoke English and introduced ourselves. I told him, "Hi, I'm Victoria." His reponse? "I'm Steven. Jobs." :) Haaa. He was really nice, paid for everything, and was very protective of us. He wanted to make sure the whole night that we felt safe. The Chinese know how to take care of guests :)

Here's the stage

Here is me and Breckon, another Ameson teacher, with the Ethiopians. In the right corner is Nikki, another teacher.

International friends haaa

This was me and Breckon's "Is this real life??? How is China so much fun??" face

Up in the corner is Steven, then one of the Ethiopians, Nikki, Dionne, Molly, and another friend of Steven's.
This song is super popular and anytime it comes on, the Chinese people lose it. I've been slowly getting the words, so I sang on stage when it came on, and I don't want to brag, buuuuuuuuuut I was kinda a big deal after, haaaa! People came up to me after and high fived me. I think the Chinese people were just surprised I knew the words.

So it was a fun night! This weekend I went candy shopping for Halloween. I forgot what week it was so a few of my classes are celebrating Halloween tomorrow. I have a great lesson plan ready to go, I'm so excited. Here's some of the candy I bought in addition to the candy my mom sent me. (Thank you Momma!)

The rest of the classes we will be learning pick-up lines. When I told the class this, the boys were really excited, haa.

This is basically the reaction I got, haa. These kids love talking about boyfriends and girlfriends. Once again, my theory that teenagers are the same everywhere is proven correct.
So another fun week coming up, and even more fun the next week when I celebrate Halloween with the rest of the classes. Can't wait to share!
